The White House was a our first stop on Day 2. We saw it from all angles, just not inside. (We couldn't get a tour.) But something very cool happened while we were there. Can you see the sniper directly over my hair parting on the rough of the White House?

Here's the close up.

As we walked around to the back of the White House, there was an incredibly loud helicopter flying overhead. It landed inside the ground, in the back yard. We were just outside this gate (with the security guard right there!), and we saw the helicopter land. You can see the propellers right through the opening of the trees (dead center).

We waited about 20 minutes for the President to get loaded, and then he flew right over our heads!!!

Cami thought that it wouldn't be far to walk to Arlington. I NEARLY died! And when we got there, you could see that everything was UP hill, so once we got inside this Visitor's Center (below) I was sure I wouldn't be able to go. Cami saw my desperation and found a tour bus to take us around the cemetery. Bless her heart!

The Kennedy's Memorial. See the Eternal Flame (orange spot in the circle).

Arlington is still an active cemetery. We saw 2 funeral processions while we were there. But it is incredible to see the miles and miles of headstones.

Last stop for the day was to the Holocaust Museum. We couldn't take any pictures inside.
Out of order, but this is the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial
We hurried back to Ryan and Caroline's to give them a date night. They were super excited, but so were we. We got to watch this cutie and his BIG brother. Oh...and I was super tired. I think I beat Lincoln to bed that night. |

Its so awful to think how many brother, husbands and fathers were faces and names of the fallen soldiers. So sad and impressive. How nice for Ryan and Caroline to get a date night!
