The Homestead Crater

I don't know about you, but did you know there was a 60 ft, warm water, crater in Heber City?  Cami and I didn't know this place existed until one day when we were watching the Travel Channel.  Our curiousity was peaked, and so we made arrangements to go.

This is moi outside the entrance to the crater (it is just above my head).

I wish I knew how to rotate pics!  Ugh.

I was nervous for this little adventure.  I'm not going to lie.  Initially we were going to go snorkeling...but at the last minute we decided to just swim (which was a good plan).

You walk down a steep tunnel, change your clothes in a box of a changing room, and grab a life-jacket.  It is steam and eerie inside the cave with a large opening at the top of the dome.

I'm sitting here in this picture where I was the most comfortable...the pretend hot-tub.

Cami got me to go out into the pool.  This was her one chance to get a picture of me.  I don't know what it was but the water was creepy!  There were people there certifying in the S.C.U.B.A. that were below us.  Their bubbles would come up and freak me out!

The water was an amazing blue.  A color I've never seen before.  That was the most amazing part.

Here is the only picture of Cami in the water.  (And it's sideways!)  She loved the water...but thought it was too hot!  (She's crazy about cool water.)

She swam in the pool for a while, leaving me in the "hot tub".  I had a "friend" in the hot tub who would not stop talking to me.  He was coming up with all sorts of lines...like "I don't want to brag but I was on the Discovery Channel", or "you have pretty eyes for a Mormon", or "I'm headed to Vegas...what to go with me?"!  He was MORE creepy than the crater!  But it was funny afterwards!    That's just typical me...I get the creepers who like me.

I'm glad we went...now we never have to go back!  (Unless we decide to scuba certify...)

  5. You totally should certify for Scuba there! It's way fun except there is nothing alive down there to see....Tell Cami it gets hotter the further to the bottom you go. :)
