We were very lucky when we bought this house because the yard was perfectly landscaped. The outside looked amazing except for one thing...our front porch. The previous owners must have been in love with monochromatic color schemes (remember the YELLOW basement!?), and so our entire house was painted one tan color. Cami has been itching to change it and fix our SLIPPERY and chipped painted porch, so she took it on. She sanded down the old paint (but I didn't get any pictures) and it was EXTREMELY hard work! Once that was done, we had to make some decisions about colors. I wanted red...I'm starting to think that I really like red. :) Cami liked black or grey.
We had that in mind when we went to buy the cement repair (you tint it to whatever color), but they didn't have what I had in mind for a red...so we went back to the drawing board. We got two shades of grey...and some spray paint to see if we'd like the bricks in a red color.
The cement repair is thick! Which is great to make our porch unslippery, but it made a mess while she (and a little bit of me) painted.
When we got the cement repair on, we were not pleased with the colors. So we decided to add some CREAM not YELLOW accents to the porch. We got the wrong color, YELLOW, at the store, and you know how sometimes you can't see the problem until it's too late...well, that's what happened here. :) (Oh and by the way, everyone in the neighborhood was stopping and commenting and making their helpful (NOT) suggestions!) I knew I liked the red brick, but Cami wasn't sure yet. So we experimented again...this time with CREAM.
It looked SOOOO much better! So we then had to change the porch again....But it turned out GREAT! I LOVE it! Cami loves it (lower case love!). And the neighbors seem to also approve (well, except Jerry/Mike, but that's another story!).
Our house needed a pop of color, and I think it looks great from the road.
We call that great curb appeal!

Very cute! I still need to come see your house. maybe next time Jake and I come to Utah we can make a trip to Price. I love the RED!
